Early Autumn Landscape Garden Design | Takoma Park, MD

Sep 26, 2014 | Lawns

Just as working in the garden is easier on you when temperatures cool a bit, so it is with your plants. Fall is a great time to divide many ornamental garden specimens. Do it early so they can set new roots and get established before frost and freezes occur.

With all those extra plants you’ll get from division, you may want to revamp your landscape garden design. If this chore is more than you wish to handle, contact us and let us help.

Chart a plan

It is often helpful to walk through the garden and consider what blooms in each spot at various times. This can jog the memory and allow you to plant complimentary colors, foliage and blooms that will appear at just the right time and season.

Don’t forget about flowering trees and shrubs that bloom in your gardens or nearby. Background colors can be used as a complementary asset for the garden. Similar to taking a picture, fill the frame of the landscape.

Trees and shrubs that are already growing need proper care as well. Pruning is an important part of preparing for winter. Our professionals know what is needed and can ready your valuable specimens to survive the harshest of winters.

We can provide classic color in the landscape and get everything in order for autumn. Many of those bulbs that need division bloom in spring, so you can be ready and accentuate their beauty with manicured surroundings. An attractive layer of mulch helps protect plants and spruces up the appearance of your garden beds.

Autumn Updates

Autumn is also a great time to add decorative hardscapes to your outdoor area. Don’t put off those needed outdoor improvements any longer. Take care of your outdoor wish list now to be ready for a beautiful landscape in spring.
