Patio Landscaping & Design Ideas

Oct 18, 2012 | Patios

A lot of people in the Washington, DC area are at the point where they know their back yard has potential but aren’t sure what to do with it. Before contacting a patio landscaping company a really good approach is to start thinking about various designs. This will help turn ideas into concrete plans that with the right help you can turn into reality. So, we are going to take a look at a number of different implementations to consider.

Incorporating Water:

This can be done through streams or fountains. A huge upside to incorporating water is that it has a very soothing effect and provides for great ambient noise. Also, when done correctly the visual of running water can be incorporated in very interesting ways.

Utilizing Shade:

Shade can be great to help control temperature depending on what you are going for. Common methods to incorporate shade are through a wooden structure or by placing trees or shrubbery in the right place. Either way, providing some shade can help keep all of your guests happy.

Flowered Border:

Incorporating floral plants into the edge of your patio can help one surface run naturally into another. This can be greatly beneficial if you are trying to consider the best way for your patio to meld with the yard. The one downside here is that depending on your climate this won’t last all year.

While these are just a few ideas the concepts remain the same… Think about what your core objectives of a patio are and then plan various integrations to achieve them. Once you have thought the process through, feel free to contact us and discuss the ideas in more detail. We always have some great ideas as well 🙂
